Continental Divide

We're at the Continental Divide having breakfast, catching some internet for the first time since Bellingham.

Hello! Yes, we're alive.

We hope to make it to Tok Alaska by tonight...

Cicero has been doing well, considering. The first night we camped he tried to escape. He's been hanging out in his crate most of the time.

We stopped at Liard Hot Springs yesterday. We also saw a lot of wildlife: a bear, two herds of mountain sheep, families of bison, a rabbit, a moose, and a groundhog.

P.S. The mosquitoes are HUGE here.

Timberline Lodge, perched at 6,000 feet on Mount Hood, was a WPA project completed in 1937. I was very impressed.

We're in Bellingham with Robin Blue and the boys. This is the first time since Eureka that we've hooked up to an internet connection so I haven't posted regularly. Everyone is dreaming upstairs, it's 1 AM, and I should stop squinting in the dark at my keyboard and go to sleep. Hopefully I can catch up on the last few days before we head out tomorrow, into Canada!

Inland

Dan honed in on a skate park in Reedsport, right before we turned inland on Highway 38. I rekindled my flame for old barns along the way.

We visited my aunt Hana and uncle Rob in Port Orford, a pretty little town along the Oregon Coast.

We stopped for lunch at a beach and Cicero got some air. Cat status: not convinced.

We stayed with my aunt Joann and uncle Don in Eureka, Calif. Cat status: comfortable.

Sebastopol

We visited my Grandparents on the Garrison side, and stayed with my aunt Vicki in Sebastopol.

Cat status: freaked. Cicero spent a few hours under the bed until Dan drug him out. He roamed the living room all night, meowing at the screen door.

We went to The Union Hotel in Occidental for dinner with Vicki.

My Grandpa Fred Garrison turned 92 on Monday, Grandma Aline turned 93 on Thursday.

Centanni Family in Calistoga

We stayed in Calistoga with Dan's aunt Marge and uncle Ray. They have a beautiful spot in the Napa Valley.

We visited Jessie before we took off for Calistoga. Her backyard Oakland garden is amazing.

Stop in Mill Valley

We stopped in Mill Valley after the Golden Gate walk to visit with Nona Kaufman. She walked across the Golden Gate when it first opened in 1937.

We got a wild hair to walk across the Golden Gate on our last day in the Bay.
